Wow its Been Months
Yeah I've had lots of other stuff going on and this web page is weak
anyway, but
anyway sorry for the lack of updates. Lots of new stuff going
on though.
Match Today
We have a match tonight, and a practice this afternoon. If you're
free and haven't
already signed up, get off your fat ass and show the love. I'm
pretty sure we're
gonna need another player tonight. The details on the match are
in the forum...I'll
update it throughout the day with any new info.
Saturday Practices
Unless you have been up Uranus or something, you should know by now
that we have
mandatory practices every saturday at 1pm central. That means
you need to be on
ICQ on time. We practice at the dollhouse, so if you're late,
you know where to go. Today
it is important for you all to be on time, since the dollhouse is still
down while Little Girl
waits to get his connection installed at his new place.
Updated Players Page
I'm still waiting for bios for several team members, but I've gone
ahead and
updated the Players Page with those bios that I have recieved.
Check it out
to see what's under those SWAT helmets and ski-masks.
New Version of cs_serious
The version that I hope to use for initial playtesting is finished.
The lighting
is still sort of shoddy, but I just want to get an idea of gameflow
at this point.
The new version is cs_serious9.bsp, and you can get it icq'ing me,
until I find
a place to host it--its too big to upload to Freeservers. My
icq: 96666075.
cs_serious Update
Believe it or not, I've done some work on my map. I haven't done
much, but
its getting there. New stuff in this build--the ct building is
almost finished, except
for the elevator, which is buggy as hell at the moment(don't try to
use it you will
get stuck); added skylights to the back of the hostage building--eventually
there
will be another building next to the hostage building that you can
roof-jump from
so that the cts have a secondary entrance into the main building.
I added some
little details here and there, and its generally coming along.

Taco Takes 6th Place in MFOTS Tournament
Well, it was a long strange trip, but we made it into the third round
before being
taught a lesson by xTu. When you consider the talent that has
made it into the
semi-finals, sixth place doesn't seem bad at all for a clan that's
barely two months
old.
We face SAF(Smoke a Fool) in round two, which is shaping up for monday night.
Recruiting
We have received a few inquiries in the past couple of days from players
looking
to join [Taco]. While we are not looking to build a huge clan,
we could afford to
have 1-2 more players to fill our roster. If you are interested
in becoming a member,
take a look at the "about us" section of this site, and then post us
a message at our
public forum. One thing not explicitly mentioned anywhere else
on this site is the
fact that we choose our starting rosters on a "first come, first serve"
basis, which
gives everyone the chance to participate. It also means that
we have to be very
picky--if you want to be a [Taco], you better be as good or better
than the founding
members.

I updated the screenshots page this morning...there are some good ones.
If you've
sent me screenshots that I haven't posted, its probably because they
suck. Just kidding...
I would prefer to have shots taken in free-look mode, unless they are
action shots showing
you doing something really cool like killing 3 or more people with
one burst, awp shot, or
hand grenade. Highest priority will be given to funny pics.
Scores are good too, but
they can be kind of boring to look at.
Progress on cs_serious
I've done a few more builds since the one I uploaded last week...late
last night, Vulpine,
Winston, and myself tested the latest build. I've done extensive
lighting work, and added
a dummy of a new building across the street from the main hostage building.
Now I'm
going to go to work on some additional exterior features...more cover
for moving from the
ct spawn into the main building(including some alternate routes), a
basement level for the
main building and an attached garage, and I'd like to put in a small
park somewhere, but
it has to be out of sight of the main building for reasons of graphical
complexity. So far
the map seems to run smoothly in terms of framerate...this may change
as we test it with
more players...the more testing I do, the better I can optimize it
to minimize performance
hits. Because of the nature of the brush work that I'll be starting
soon, I don't expect to have
another playable build for some time...maybe a week. And anyway,
the tournament's
coming up so I'll have less time to work.

MFOTS Paying Tournament
Well, MrSerious(that's me!) is the only Taco to have signed up for
the paying tournament,
so you guys better all come out to back me up cuz I have to get a higher
k/d ratio
than Grind and a couple of other top-notch MFOTS players. That

Practice, Practice, Practice
How would everybody feel about having a practice tomorrow, sometime
after the
big game? I still don't have schedules for everybody, but I want
to get us all together
now, because it won't be long before the next MFOTS clan tourny starts.
In the
absence of all your schedules, I am suggesting that we meet on ICQ
tommorrow at 9
pm. If you have party plans, let me know. Since there's
only one day's notice, this
is not a "scheduled" practice, and besides, its the Super Bowl, stupid!
